Adamsdown
From Cardiffpedia
Adamsdown sits between Splott, Cathays, and Roath, and is a residential area split by a main shopping street called Clifton Street (that used to be famous for it's numerous butchers). Supposedly named after Adam Kygnot, a porter at Cardiff Castle circa 1331, the area is now most notable for its terrace-lined streets named after planets and metals (Zinc St, Copper St, Topaz St... Constellation St, Planet St, etc...). Places of note include the Old Howardian Athletic Club, which is a quirky, old social club wedged between a key-cutting store and the cop-shop on Clifton St that is very cheap, and puts on some excellent live music.
