Canton

From Cardiffpedia

Canton is an area of Cardiff west of the Taff wedged between Pontcanna, Riverside, Grangetown, Ely and Llandaff. Previously fairly run-down, it has been somewhat gentrified in recent years, and is seen by many as the artistic centre of Cardiff. This identity is fostered by the presence of a number of film and theatre production companies, and the large Chapter Arts Centre, which houses a good bar, a theatre, an art-house cinema, numerous gallery spaces, and much more. Canton's high street is the commercial Cowbridge Rd East, on which you'll find many pubs (good Brains in the seedy but welcoming 'Admiral Napier'), many food shops, and a few decent restaurants ('The Happy Gathering' Chinese restaurant is good but pricey, 'Seren', the Turkish Restaurant opposite Tescos is a good, cheaper, alternative, and there are many decent Italian places too - check out the 'Italian Way' where you can bring your own wine, or the more expensive 'La Lupa' next door).
