Cardiff Libraries

From Cardiffpedia

Cardiff has a very popular library system, with branches scattered throughout the city.

The library service not only lends out books (fiction and non-fiction) but also stocks music CDs (classical and popular) and videos and DVDs (current releases, classics and world cinema). Anyone can search the catalogue of items from home[1] - and you can even reserve items for later collection, if you have a membership card (and PIN).

The most popular service recently is the free internet access for all visitors - whether or not they are members of the Library. The easiest way to use the service is to produce some proof of ID and address, and get a permanent card (with a PIN). You can then either book sessions in advance [2] or simply take the first available PC. Tourists and visitors can get a temporary ticket issued without proof of address.

The Central Library will soon move from its current location to a temporary building at the top of Bute Street. This move is part of a transition to a new state-of-the-art library planned for opening in 2008, and positioned at the end of The Hayes in what is now the carpark of the Marriott Hotel.
