Le Gallois
From Cardiffpedia
Le Gallois is one of the best (and most expensive) restaurants in Wales. It is probably the best place I've ever eaten, and is the most suitable place in Cardiff for a special occasion-style blow-out. The cuisine could be described as 'modern welsh european', but 'damned fine' and bloody lovely' fit the bill just as well.
The menu is perfect. Whatever you order will be nigh-on heavenly. Amongst the choice of starters are complex gems such as: White and Black Pudding with Roasted Langoustines ,Lambs Lettuce and Truffle Cream Dressing, and Rabbit Terrine Cooked in Chablis and Grain Mustard with Toasted Sourdough Bread; as well as a range of simpler seasonal options. The main courses you'll get to choose from include: Organic Chicken with Fresh Pear and Broad Beans, Morel Cream Sauce; Roasted Monkfish with Saffron Risotto, Intensed Tomato Sauce; and Fillet Aberdeen Angus “Gold Beef” with Scottish Girolles Mushroom, Creamed Spinach, Rosti Potato and Truffle Sauce. The last time I ate there I had a delicious dressed lobster with a sweet Thai chilli sauce, and I can still remember the pleasure of every mouthful.
